Ministers Opening Remarks Regarding Typhoon Preparedness Briefing

□ During the meeting of the World Organization of the Scout
Movement (WOSM) this morning, there was a discussion about
the need to relocate the Jamboree event from the Saemangeum
campsite to a safer location due to the forecasted path of
Typhoon Khanun across the Korean Peninsula, as projected by
the Korea Meteorological Administration.
□ To ensure the safety of the World Scout Jamboree, the South
Korean government is also reviewing the Jamboree's natural
disaster emergency plans. Kim Sung-Ho, the Vice Minister for
Disaster and Safety Management at the Ministry of the Interior
and Safety, will provide more information on this shortly.
□ In light of the forecasted passage of Typhoon Khanun across the
peninsula, the specifics of the K-pop concert performance plans
are also undergoing thorough review within the scope of the
natural disaster emergency plans.
○ In response to this urgent situation, the organizing
committee is closely discussing potential adjustments with
WOSM regarding the concert venue.
- The necessity to develop a contingency Plan B for the
K-pop concert performance is unavoidable. Taking into
account the stay area for WOSM members, alternativevenues such as the Sangam World Cup Stadium are being
carefully considered as potential options.
